who we are.

The Network of Women in Events (NOWIE) was established in 2013, with the goal of improving the working landscape for women in the live events industry. NOWIE defines a woman as anyone who identifies or is happy to be identified as part of a group of women. Founded on the principles of women supporting women and the importance of community to bolster success, NOWIE amassed an online following of over 7,000 women. In the years since, NOWIE has undergone many big changes: Cat Kevern became Chair of the organisation in 2021, and most recently, reformed NOWIE as a Community Interest Company (CIC). With an ever-expanding roster of annual projects and events, and overseen by a stellar Board of Advisors, NOWIE continues to strive for better opportunities for women in the events sector at all stages of their career, through networking, community and improved representation. Currently, NOWIE’s online community stands at over 10,000 members across various platforms, and over 200 official members.

NOWIE remains dedicated to creating a supportive and equitable environment for women in the events industry at all stages of their careers. We provide a wide range of career support and opportunities, and are always working to ensure our events and resources are as accessible as possible. We foster professional growth, champion diversity, and inclusivity, providing a safe and empowering community built by women, for women.

what we do.

Through our tiered system, we offer various memberships, resources, networking opportunities, advocacy, mentorship and much more. We also run an annual theme, which informs our efforts and highlights specific issues we hope to tackle. The current theme is Empowerment.

Networking

Our networking events offer a safe and supportive environment for women to connect, share knowledge and integrate with others in their sector. We run these events in a variety of ways, both virtually and in person. We aim to make these accessible to as many people as we can, often opting for venues outside of London. In 2024, we ran our first International Women’s Day networking series, hosting simultaneous regional events across the country to mark IWD.

Mentoring

NOWIE runs an annual event industry mentoring scheme - Level Up. The programme pairs women in their junior to mid-career with an experienced mentor, providing tailored support to participants as they navigate challenges, transitions and next steps in their professional journey. Level Up has been running since 2022 and has seen over 75 mentees graduate so far. The programme is completely free for NOWIE members and aims to remove barriers to women achieving higher levels of seniority in their industry.

OUR three PILLARS

  1. community

Women supporting women through shared experiences, collaboration and networking opportunities.

2. representation

More women, especially those from diverse backgrounds, in senior leadership, on boards, as founders, and thought leaders—it's that simple!

3. equity

Creating opportunities, advocating for equal pay, access, and fair treatment for everyone across all sectors of the industry.
